Choosing a mattress comes down to three things: how you sleep, what feel you like, and the size of your bed.
1. Start with your sleep position
- Side sleepers: medium or medium-firm memory foam or latex, to cushion shoulders and hips
- Back sleepers: medium-firm to firm, to keep the spine straight
- Stomach sleepers: firm, so your hips don't sink
2. Pick a material
- Memory foam: contouring and pressure-relieving, low motion transfer
- Pocket spring: bouncy, breathable, best for couples
- Natural latex: responsive, cool and very durable
- HR/PU foam: firm, light and affordable
3. Measure your bed
Measure the inside of your cot in inches. Standard lengths are 72, 75 and 78 inches (84 inches on some models). Widths are grouped like this:
- Single: 30, 35 or 36 inches
- Diwan: 42 or 48 inches
- Queen: 60 inches
- King: 66, 70 or 72 inches
For a size in between, the price is the MRP of the next larger standard size.
4. Choose thickness
6 inches suits most adults. Choose 8 or 10 inches for extra comfort or if you are heavier. 4–5 inches is fine for kids and guest beds.
